We Focus on High Quality Donor Sperm

We know that there are many paths to growing your family, and selecting donor sperm is one of them. At Cascade Cryobank, we know that you have many choices when it comes to finding donor sperm. In fact, the choices can be somewhat overwhelming!

How do you know what to choose? We know that the most important detail is that the sperm you choose is of the highest quality. For us, it all starts there.

Here’s more information about our mindset concerning this very subject:

Our Origin Story

Cascade Cryobank was originally started because we noticed that there is a demand for high quality sperm in the industry. One of the reasons why supply is limited is because there are rules limiting the amount of supply that can come from any one donor.

This means that the industry has a difficult time keeping up. Donors are constantly in demand, and the donor vials need to be of the highest quality in order to meet certain standards.

When we opened our doors, we did so because we know that we can not only meet these standards but also exceed them. This means that our clients know that our donor sperm is of the highest quality.

Our Selection Process

For us, the quality begins in our selection process. We have rigorous standards, and if the donor candidates don’t meet them, we won’t proceed to add them to our catalog. Here’s a look at how we select donors:

  • Rigorous initial evaluation. This is where we assess if donors meet our initial criteria. We assess items like age, illnesses, and perform an initial semen analysis to find any red flags.
  • Testing for infectious diseases. We test for a variety of infectious diseases such as HIV, West Nile Virus, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Zika Virus, HPV, and more.
  • Comprehensive medical evaluations. We not only assess the health of our donors, but we also do a lookback that spans four generations in an effort to uncover any potential genetic conditions and other concerns.
  • Psychological evaluations. We also assess the mental health of our donor candidates. We do this through a Personality Assessment Inventory, the results of which are reviewed by a licensed mental health professional.
  • Criminal background. We have found that criminal behavior can be associated with mental health issues, personality disorders, addictions, and more. So, we pull a criminal background check of all our donors.
  • Advanced genetic testing. We test for more genetic markers than is standard in our industry. We know that getting the full genetic picture of each of our donors is important to families when purchasing donor vials.
  • Blood type evaluation. We not only test to determine a donor’s ABO group and RH type, but we also do a hemoglobinopathy panel to find any abnormalities.
  • Repeat testing. We not only evaluate each sperm specimen before it is frozen, but we also do it again once it’s thawed. We discard all specimens that don’t meet our requirements.

Our process is a long but important one. We know that the work we put into this translates to happy clients who have the peace of mind knowing that they are making the best choice for their families. Please view more details about our process here.
