It all starts by us taking applications for donors. Our criteria is rigorous, and we start by taking applications from healthy males between the ages of 18 and 39 who have a healthy medical history beyond colds, flus, and allergies. We interview you during this phase to get to know the donor, and also perform an initial analysis of their semen. If the donor passes this phase, he will be asked back for more evaluation.
Once you return, we will perform an extensive medical evaluation through a series of tests. In this phase, we are looking for anything abnormal in their genetic profile, as well as infectious diseases l like HIV, HBC, HCV, West Nile virus, and more. We also look for other potential health issues, as many of these could be genetically transferred to the offspring. We also perform a blood type evaluation and advanced genetic testing.
Another important step is that we have our donors undergo a psychological evaluation. We have our donors complete a Personal Assessment Inventory, which is then reviewed by a Licensed Mental Health Professional. The goal here is to assess their emotional and mental health.
We also perform a criminal background check. Future parents have a right to know this information! If a potential donor has a criminal background, we don’t allow them to become donors. A major reason is that people with criminal behavior can have personality disorders, drug use, and mental illness.

We like to understand a donor’s personal history, interpersonal relationship style with family and friends, hobbies, and ambitions. They also perform a personality test. Much of this information ends up on the profile, which can help people make selections.
