Why become a sperm donor?
There are many reasons to become a sperm donor. Most of our donors report that they want the satisfaction of helping others start or grow their families. Other benefits such as financial reimbursement and free medical and genetic screenings offered by Cascade Cryobank are motivating factors as well.
How can I become a donor?
To become a donor at Cascade Cryobank, you must first complete an online application.
What are good practices before my initial appointment and regular donations?
We ask our donors to abstain for at least 48-72 hours prior to making a donation. Additionally, keeping yourself healthy and hydrated can also assist in higher sperm counts. Avoiding excessive use of substances and hot tubs or baths is recommended as well.
What happens after the online application?
Once you have submitted the online application, one of our team members will perform an initial screening to check your eligibility. If you are qualified to be a donor, we will contact your through your preferred method of communication. You then can come in and provide an initial “test” sample which will be analyzed by our physician. If you pass the initial screening, you will then get a blood test done, a physical with our doctor, and a medical history interview.
How often can I make donations?
Our donors typically donate between 1-2 times a week. We find that this is a good way to efficiently complete the program, while also maintaining a high cell count due to enough abstinence time between donations.
How will I receive financial reimbursement?
For your initial “test” donation, you will receive $40. Once you are accepted into the program, each acceptable donation will be worth $100. At the time of the donation, you will recieve $70. After a 6-month period has passed from your final donation with us, the remaining $30 is released. We want to make sure our donors are properly compensated for their generosity.
Will I have to pay taxes?
Yes – donors who make more than $600 in a calendar year will receive a 1099 to file their taxes with.
What are donations used for?
Your donations are used by people who are looking to start or expand their families.
