Donor Identity Disclosure Types

We understand and respect the sanctity of a sperm donor’s identity, recognizing its significance to both the donor and the intended parent. Upholding a balance in providing our recipients with the critical information they desire, while also respecting our donors’ privacy. Cascade Cryobank offers two options for donor information sharing. They are designed to meet the comfort levels and needs of both parties.  We are dedicated to navigating these sensitive matters with care and respect, fostering an environment of trust and understanding for all people involved in this amazing process.

Sperm donors at Cascade Cryobank choosing this option consent to a program called “Open ID,” where offspring generated by donor sperm can receive identifying information about the donor upon reaching the age of 18. Information released according to this program includes name, date of birth, and last known state of residence. Additionally, depending on the country, this may include the place of birth, marital status, and number of other offspring.

Our Early Disclosure Program is a first-of-its-kind in the sperm banking industry. It allows parent(s) and donors to meet after a child is born. If parent(s) and donors mutually agree to meet the process begins with a written letter from the parent(s) to the donor. The donor is offered an online session with a mental health counselor. After 30 days the parent(s) will receive the donor’s name, date of birth, and last known state of residence. If both parties agree to meet a mental health counselor will facilitate the online initial session, which is paid for by Cascade Cryobank.

Future contact can be discussed during this meeting. Either party may request additional contact after the first meeting, but all ongoing communication must be based on shared consent, and a counselor may be hired by either party to support additional meetings.
